the Gulmi family
"There are six members of our family that collect and trade patches as a collective effort: Kenny (KJ) who is a graduate of State University of New York at New Paltz. He played soccer as a Striker / Midfielder for 10 years and was on two first division championship teams: Mahopac Rockets and Mahopac Cobras. Joelle Marie who is a Junior at Westchester Community College in New York. She played soccer for 9 years and was on two First Division Champioship teams: Mahopac Arrows and Mahopac Indians (coached by her Dad). She was also a three year League Select player at Sweeper and was Team Captain twice. She won a scolarship to college in Virginia but a game injury to her back ended her soccer career and caused her to transfer closer to home. She is also a Tae Kwon Do black belt with over 30 tournament gold medals including three New York State Championships, the National Collegiate Middleweight Championship (currently) and a Silver Medal in the 1995 US Junior Olympics in Chicago. Drew who is a Sophomore on scholarship at Manhattan College (NCAA Division I) in New York City, played twelve years for his Dad on the Mahopac Hurricanes, winning two undefeated division I championships, five league sportsmanhip awards and over 40 tournaments. Following his Freshman year at Manhattan, he played for F.C. Kix, a Connecticut premier team which also went undefeated in league play and won a half dozen tournaments. Drew is a Keeper but can and does also play all ten field positions. He is also a Tae Kwon Do competitor and won the Gold Medal (National Championship) at the US Junior Olympics in Chicago in 1995. Dave and Jay are twins (not identical) They have played recreational soccer for eight years on the Mahopac Golden Eagles and Mahopac Raiders for their Dad. Both are outside midfielders. They have won two championships and several seconds. Both are currently Freshman at Mahopac High School. Ken Gulmi Sr. is the biggest kid of the bunch. Currently coaching the Mahopac Knights, a boys under 12 travel team, he is also Travel Director of the Mahopac Soccer Club (1,275 players); President of East Hudson Youth Soccer League (14,000 players / 290 travel teams) and Registrar for Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (125,000 + players). He is also a delegate to the USSF Convention, a nationally licensed coach and a USSF certified referee. He clearly has no other life ! He has been married for 26 (and counting) years to the beautiful and indulgent Chris who puts up with all this soccer stuff with a patience and humor that is way above and beyond what any wife should be asked to tolerate."
